David Barnett

David Barnett was raised in a rural setting outside Madison, Wisconsin. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering and Neurobiology from UW-Madison and went on to study medicine at UT-Southwestern in Dallas, TX. Following his MD, he completed an Internal Medicine internship at UT-Southwestern with plans to specialize in Ophthalmology. Following his internship, he took a break from medicine which allowed him to return to Wisconsin to care for ill family members.

David has been active in research throughout his undergraduate and medical education. He reentered the academic research sphere in 2021 as a Postdoctoral Fellow to develop a retina research platform studying ophthalmic manifestations of neurological disorders. Outside of the lab, David enjoys gardening, camping, and hiking with his wife and 2 girls.
