Michele Salzman

Michele grew up in Wisconsin and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology & Chemistry at the University of WI-Whitewater.  After working in research for a time, she traveled to Nashville, TN and earned a Master of Science in Experimental Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University.  Wanting to be involved in vision research again, Michele joined the Mowat Lab in November 2020, and is working to complete a PhD in Comparative Biomedical Sciences studying the effects of aging and heavy metal exposure on photoreceptor mitochondrial health.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her cat Dunkel and her two Labradors, Prada & Troy.
